Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of disability sport and WheelPower relies on the support of volunteers to provide opportunities for disabled people of all ages and abilities at all levels in sport.

We need volunteers from across the UK - from a range of communities and backgrounds. Our recruitment process is open and fair and our goal is to recruit volunteers who will bring passion, enthusiasm and energy to our organisation. Previous volunteering experience is not necessary.

While some volunteer roles are specific others are more general and allow the person volunteering to make a meaningful contribution using their skills to support WheelPower, our sports associations and individuals.

Specialist volunteers will have specific existing skills or qualifications that are needed for them to complete the role – for example, coaching, officiating or medical care.

General volunteers will not need any special skills or qualifications and will receive training as needed. They can help with a wide variety of roles – for example, fundraising, event support or general office tasks.

Interns will be recruited for specific roles to provide WheelPower with support in achieving our goals. These will be flexible in nature and designed around the course of the student to maximise the benefit for both WheelPower and the intern.

All volunteers will be expected to attend training events that will give them the knowledge they need to carry out their role.

Volunteering locally where you live

There are many sports clubs and organisations that are looking for volunteers to help them.

WheelPower can link you to one of these if you are keen to volunteer in your local community.

You could also consider setting up a local fundraising group for WheelPower to help us raise funds for our work.
