Why WheelPower?
Although we are proud of what we have achieved over the past 60 years, over 1,200 men, women and children become paralysed due to an accident or illness every year. Many more people aquire a different disability that menas they need to use a wheelchair. All will benefit by participating in wheelchair sport but we are currently unable to support all of these people and provide their pathway into sport because we do not have the necessary resources to do so. We are a national charity that receives no direct government funding and we rely upon the generous support of the public, charitable trusts, and corporate sponsors.
Companies and their employees that work in partnership with WheelPower tell us that we are the ideal charity to partner as they are directly involved and can see how their investment helps to transform lives through sport for people with disabilities.
We have many years of experience of delivering sports programmes and resources on a national level, and at our home at the internationally recognised Stoke Mandeville Stadium we have welcomed visitors from over 100 countries. We pride ourselves that we are truly an inclusive charity that positively changes lives regardless of age, ability, culture or creed.
The programmes that we look for corporate support upon are flexible in design. Each can be tailored to ensure our partners brand is identified to a lesser or greater extent. Our professional staff ensure that any volunteer support scheme that is deployed is fully supported and the employee contribution is maximized to create a worthwhile experience and sense of fulfillment.
