Introducing Steve Snelling....

Steve SnellingI would like to introduce myself as the new Sport Development Officer for WheelPower and tell you a little bit about my background and interests.

I have been interested in sport from an early age and this has been reflected in my active involvement throughout childhood and my educational choices.  This has ranged from my choice of GCSE subjects and reading a degree in Sports Development with Coaching at Sheffield Hallam University.  At university I developed my theoretical knowledge of sporting structures and principles and through volunteering and employment I have been able to build upon and put this knowledge in practice.

Before taking on the role at WheelPower I was employed by Central Bedfordshire Council (formerly Mid-Beds District Council) and as a Regional Development Officer for British Blind Sport in the East.  I am a keen volunteer and have been involved in various sporting activities including assisting the Great Britain Goalball teams in their training sessions.

I like to participate in as many sports as possible but have particular interests in football and golf.  I am also a level 2 qualified football coach and until recently have been coaching two senior and a under 15’s girls teams.  I am currently training hard for the London Marathon in April with the aim to raise as much money as possible for British Blind Sport.

I look forward to meeting and working with you all at future events.

Martin McElhatton, WheelPower's Chief Executive said "We are delighted to welcome Steve to the team.  Steve will be a huge asset to WheelPower and will help us provide even more opportunities for disabled people to transform their lives through sport".
