Salary Scale: £20,000 - £25,000
An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated person to join WheelPower to work with the Olympic Boroughs to deliver the Time to Shine programme of sport and culture for disabled children in London in the lead up to 2012 and to assist in the delivery of the Olympic Boroughs 2012 Sports Plan. The main aim of Time to Shine is to increase participation in sport by children with disabilities and working with the Head of Sports Legacy to support the Olympic Boroughs 2012 Sports Plans for people with disabilities.
The postholder will lead in the organisation of Time to Shine events at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and the Olympic Boroughs.
The successful candidate will need to be personally well organised, show an ability to meet deadlines, work both unsupervised as well as under direct instruction, have good communication skills with both peers and leading figures within sport, possess skills in planning, partnership working and the ability to influence and co-ordinate sustainable national and local delivery. In addition it is desirable that you have at least three years sports development or equivalent experience. An understanding of issues relating to participation in sport by disabled people is preferable but not essential.
WheelPower is the national disability sports organisation for wheelchair sport in the UK and aims to provide, promote and develop opportunities for men, women and children with disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive wheelchair sport. WheelPower is based at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Stoke Mandeville, Buckinghamshire HP21 9PP – the postholder will have an office base in East London within the Olympic Boroughs of Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest and work at Stoke Mandeville as needed
