Time to Shine

Time to ShineWheelPower and the five Olympic host borough’s  (Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest) will provide up to 120 young disabled people, aged 11-18 years old from the five Olympic host borough’s, with a fun, positive, life changing experience in sporting and cultural activities at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the birthplace of the Paralympic Games.

This event will take place 24th-27th August 2010 and is free to enter thanks to the generous contributions of the Olympic Park contractors.  All costs, including travel, meals, accommodation and coaching are included. If any applicant requires full time support during the event, this may also be arranged.

Attendees at this event will be able to experience a variety of sporting activities including; ball games such as basketball, table tennis, Boccia etc, swimming, athletics and additional inclusive sessions to suit all abilities run by qualified coaches and volunteers. There will be a mixture of have-a-go and competitive activities, in which participants will compete alongside their peers of a similar age group in their Borough teams, to be awarded the title of ‘Time to Shine’ champions 2010.

Each young person will be required to bring trainers, casual clothes, toiletries, swimwear, sunscreen/waterproof clothing (in case of rainy weather conditions) and towels.

Each participant will receive 2 ‘Time to Shine’ t-shirts.

There will be a disco on the final evening; participants should also bring suitable clothing for this.

Note: Each borough will select up to 24 participants to attend ‘Time to Shine’. Places are limited to these numbers due to capacity and staffing levels.  Please book early to avoid disappointment.
