This outstanding trek to Everest base camp on the World's highest mountain crosses the lush valleys of the Sagarmatha National Park, allowing time to explore its villages and monasteries and sample the hospitality of the Sherpa people. Your adventure begins at Lukla, from where you trek to Phakding and onto the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. The paths are well trodden as the only means of transportation between the Sherpa villages is by foot. You'll acclimatise steadily, as the trail meanders over and around numerous rivers to Thyangboche, where the views of Mt. Khangtiaga, Mt. Thamserku, the Nuptse-Lhotse wall and Mt Everest are spectacular. Your trek leads gradually uphill, with constant views of the magnificent Mt. Ama Dablam 22,600ft (6,900m) and other snow-capped mountains. You reach a highpoint at Kalapathar with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers - Everest is now just a stone's throw away! Triumphant at reaching Base Camp, you descend back through Sherpa villages, before reaching Lukla via Thyangboche and Namche Bazaar.
