Volunteer Reward & Recognition - Sandy Breen

Here's what Sandy (Pictured (R) in photo) has to say about her experience volunteering for WheelPower:

'It’s brilliant being a volunteer for WheelPower, absolutely wonderful. It all began when I was working at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and a friend of mine there asked if I’d like to visit the WheelPower Team, we popped over to make some tea for them, and that was it. It’s been 30-40 years since that first visit, and I am still here today volunteering for WheelPower at the Mix96 Tour de Vale 2019!

I feel so rewarded in my role, the WheePower Team are such a lovely bunch and you will always feel well-looked after.

I’ve been all over the world with WheelPower, jet setting off to Barcelona and Athens for the Paralympic Games. One of my most memorable moments has been being broadcast on national TV singing the national anthem ‘God Save the Queen’ with my daughter, Mowenna, at the London Paralympics 2012. That moment will stay with me for the rest of my life!'

‘We would like to thank Sandy for  her invaluable support over the years - you’re doing a tremendous job Sandy! You are a WheelPower Superstar! You deserve the recognition!’

If you or a friend has volunteered for WheelPower in the past or present time, please do get in touch, we’d love to cover your story, give you the recognition you deserve and show how your hard work has helped a countless number of wheelchair users lead more active and healthier lives!
