WheelPower, like so many charities across the UK, has been hugely impacted by the cancellation of our fundraising events due to COVID-19. In fact, we expect our fundraising to be reduced by around 50% because of the virus.
Because of this, WheelPower have joined forces with The UK’s mass participation event industry to create The 2.6 Challenge, a nationwide fundraising campaign which was launched to raise money for charities on Sunday 26 April.
We are asking you to take part in an activity based around the number 2.6 or 26, that best suits your skills to either fundraise or donate for WheelPower.
Perhaps you’re feeling bored at home and fancy a challenge? You can run or walk 2.6 miles or 2.6km or for 26 minutes. You could do the same in your home or garden; go up and down the stairs 26 times, juggle for 2.6 minutes, do a 26 minute exercise class, why not get 26 people on a video call for a 26 minute workout – anything you like. Read this brilliant booklet of 26 fun ideas for fundraising challenges. It also contains a poster you can print out, colour in and put in your window to show you’re taking part or that you’ve completed the challenge
We want people to get active, have fun and raise money for WheelPower – which we will then use to help disabled people stay active in their homes at this difficult time.
