Nikki is our Physical Activity Advisor at the Salisbury Spinal Injury Unit, working one day per week. She is originally from Northern Ireland but came to England about 7 years ago to persue a career in sports development.
Nikki has held various roles over the past 7 years including working with college students who have mental and physical disabilities to assist them to become more active. Her most recent position was with Energise Me Hampshire CSP working on different projects with young mums and older adults and she is about to start a new role with Wiltshire Council working on a Sport England funded project providing opportunities to be active in the most deprived communities.
Nikki is the sole Physical Activity Advisor in the Salisbury unit. Her role involves advising patients on types of sports and activities they could get involved in once they leave the unit. She organises various taster sessions that patients can try during their stay within the unit, and generally encourage them to be active as part of their rehab. Nikki also buddies with patients to assist them with their gym programmes to give them support to be active in their free time.
Nikki has played hockey most of her life and is heavily involved in coaching juniors. She is currently taking a break from doing that to try new activities, at the minute she has been giving bouldering a go!
