Simon represented Great Britain at an astonishing seven Paralympic Games.   

He has been an integral part of Great Britain’s wheelchair basketball team at the 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and the 2016 Summer Paralympics winning a silver medal in Atlanta and bronze medals in Sydney, Athens and most recently in Rio last year.

After losing his leg in a train accident at 21-years-old, the talented footballer was introduced to wheelchair basketball by his physio in the early 1990s and fell in love with the sport after watching his first game.

Since his debut for Great Britain at the 1992 Paralympic Games, Simon has represented Great Britain at every major championship since then.  In addition to his four Paralympic Medals he won two World Championship silver medals and 11 European medals, four of which were gold.

Simon’s wheelchair basketball career has not only seen him travel the world for Great Britain, he has played oversees in Italy for three clubs winning national honours both here in the UK and in Italy.  In addition to his team success, Simon has captained the GB Men’s Team – leading the team to the 2011 European Championships title.
