Ernest Guild is a director of Wheelpower and has been for over 30 years and is also the treasurer of the British Wheelchair Athletics Association.
Ernie has served on various committees within WheelPower and other charities including director and vice-president of EFDS.
In his younger days he competed in a variety of wheelchair sports and represented Scotland, England and United Kingdom. He competed at 3 Paralympic Games and won the gold medal for the shot-put competition held in Seoul along with a medal at the Barcelona games, world games medals and world records over a sporting career. Ernie was awarded the WheelPower lifetime achievement award and in 2018 inducted into the Stoke Mandeville Hall of Fame.
In 2002 was presented with an MBE by Her Majesty for services to sport.
Since retiring from competing, Ernie gained certificate in coaching athletics and is also a qualified athletics field official and assists at various sporting events.
