Wheelwrights 2020 Funding

The fund is available to anyone who has acquired a spinal cord injury within the past five years.  You can apply for any equipment or activities to help you stay active, get active, or help you achieve your sporting potential.  The funding has been made available through the Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights, in association with National Tyre Distributors Association.

Most grants made will be in the range of £100 to £1,000. Examples of grants made in previous rounds include contributions to purchasing your own sports wheelchair, shooting equipment (rifles, pistols etc.) and archery equipment. Other grants have included contributions to tennis lessons, travel expenses to help you get to training sessions or competitions, and competition entry fees.

Applicants applying for part-funding should remember that funds will only be paid when the full balance is raised. Please bear in mind your other funding sources and your ability to raise the total amount before making an application.

Our preference is to help individuals in the final stages of meeting their funding target, or to make grants to purchase an item or activity outright.

Individuals applying must have acquired a spinal cord injury within the past five years. Applicants must provide contact details of a referee. Referees are usually physiotherapists, occupational therapists, WheelPower Physical Activity Advisors or another professional related to the activity you are interested in. You must be a UK resident. To make an application, please read the guidance notes downloadable from this page, then complete the application form and send it to the email address given on the form.

If you have any questions please email wheelwrights@wheelpower.org.uk.
