Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh became Royal Patron of WheelPower in November 2024, succeeding His Majesty King Charles III, who supported the charity for many years.

The Duchess is a passionate advocate for disability inclusion and increasing opportunities for disabled people through sport and physical activity. As Royal Patron, Her Royal Highness supports WheelPower’s mission to transform lives through sport and to encourage more disabled people to lead active, healthy lives.

Following the announcement of her Patronage, The Duchess said:
“It’s a huge honour for me to take on this Patronage. I really am delighted. I look forward to working with you in the future to make disability sport more visible and more accessible so that many more people can experience the genuine benefits that it gives.”

Rosie Vestey, President of WheelPower, welcomed the appointment, saying:
“WheelPower are delighted that Her Royal Highness has agreed to become our Royal Patron and we are excited to work with Her Royal Highness to promote our work and increase the number of disabled people we can support in the future.”
